Common Questions

Yes! I believe you get the best care when I can support you in your own environment.
I offer home visits throughout Northeast Los Angeles: Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Mount Washington, etc., and in Glendale, Pasadena, and surrounding areas. A travel fee may apply to distances beyond 10 miles from 90041.
Depending on your needs and preferences, I also offer Telehealth appointments.

You may want to write down a list of questions (so you don’t forget to ask when I’m there) and talk with your partner to see if they would like to be present. I’m comfortable with pets and siblings so you don’t need to make special arrangements for them unless you will find them distracting.
We will try to scheule my visit at a time when your baby is hungry (but not hangry) or will wake soon.
What you don’t need to do is clean the house or put on makeup! I’m coming to support you so please don’t feel like you need to host me!

Prenatal consults are typically 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Consults that include an assesment of infant feeding will typically last 1.5 to 2 hours depending on when the infant is ready to feed and what intervention/s or support are needed.
Follow ups can vary in length from 1-2 hours depending on whether we are addressing latching, pumping, milk supply or breast/nipple concerns. Follow ups via telehealth will typically last 30 minutes to an hour.

Yes! In fact, during the first 7-10 days of life your baby and your milk supply change so much that I require a follow up! A consult during the first week is priced higher with the plan that I will follow up with you in 3-5 days after we meet to ensure our lactation plan is working: that your baby is growing and your milk supply is appropriate.
If we meet for the first time when your baby is already a few weeks or months old, we can decide on a follow up plan together that suits you needs.
Another option is to plan for lactation “check ups” at key milestones to ensure you are on track: During the first week (addressing initial concerns), the second week (assessing your milk production), around six weeks (when infant has a growth spurt), and before returning to work (or somewhere between 3-5 months).
-
We will likely cover a lot in our time together! I don’t expect you to remember everything, so I’ll provide you with a personalized lactation plan and some curated resources based on your needs.
After our initial consult, you are welcome to reach out with any additional questions: I may have a quick answer or we may need to schedule a follow up so I can reassess your latch or milk supply.

You may be able to get 3-6 visits or more 100% covered with no out-of-pocket cost (see the FAQ on insurance coverage).
I am able to provide you with a Superbill after the visit that you can submit to request insurance reimbursement.

I am partnered with The Lactation Network (TLN) to offer consults 100% covered by insurance with no out-of-pocket costs for you. To verify eligibility click here.
Note that for clients using TLN the visit + follow up in the first week will be considered two visits.
If you have an insurance that does not partner with TLN, I can provide you a Superbill to submit to your provider. I recommend checking with your insurance provider first as I may be considered “out of network” and they may not reimburse.
