Common Questions

Yes! I believe you get the best care when I can support you in your own environment.
I offer home visits throughout Northeast Los Angeles: Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Mount Washington, etc., and in Glendale, Pasadena, and surrounding areas. A travel fee may apply to distances beyond 10 miles from 90041.
Depending on your needs and preferences, I also offer Telehealth appointments.

You may want to write down a list of questions (so you don’t forget to ask when I’m there) and talk with your partner to see if they would like to be present. I’m comfortable with pets and siblings so you don’t need to make special arrangements for them unless you will find them distracting.
We will try to scheule my visit at a time when your baby is hungry (but not hangry) or will wake soon.
What you don’t need to do is clean the house or put on makeup! I’m coming to support you so please don’t feel like you need to host me!

Prenatal consults are typically 45 minutes to 1 hour but could be longer depending on your needs.
Consults that include an assesment of infant feeding will typically last 1.5 to 2 hours depending on when the infant is ready to feed and what intervention/s or support are needed.
Follow ups can vary in length from 1-2 hours depending on whether we are addressing latching, pumping, milk supply or breast/nipple concerns. Follow ups via telehealth will typically last 30 minutes to an hour.

Yes! In fact, during the first 7-10 days of life your baby and your milk supply change so much that I require a follow up! I am so committed to ensuring that you get the support you need to make adjustements as your milk supply increases and your baby grows that any follow up visit within a week of the initial consult is offered at a discounted rate. Ideally I would love to follow up with you in 3-5 days to ensure the lactation plan is working: that your baby is growing, your milk supply is appropriate, and you feel supported on your journey.
If we meet for the first time when your baby is already a few weeks or months old, we can decide on a follow up plan together that suits you needs.
Another option is to plan for lactation “check ups” at key milestones to ensure you are on track: During the first week (addressing initial concerns), the second week (assessing your milk production), around six weeks (when infant has a growth spurt), and before returning to work (or somewhere between 3-5 months).

We will likely cover a lot in our time together! I don’t expect you to remember everything, so I’ll provide you with a personalized lactation plan and some curated resources based on your needs.
After our initial consult, you are welcome to reach out with any additional questions: I may have a quick answer or we may need to schedule a follow up so I can reassess your latch or milk supply.

Depending on your insurance you may be able to get lactation visits 100% covered with no out-of-pocket cost (see the FAQ on insurance coverage).
If you need to pay out of pocket and submit a superbill for reimbursement the costs are listed below.
Prenatal in-home visit: $225; Prenatal telehealth consult: $200
Initial in-home consultation for a new client/family: $275 (Telehealth is typically not recommended for a first visit as these visits include an infant weight check.)
In home consultation for an established family: $225; Telehealth consultation for an established family: $200
Discounted rate for any follow up scheduled within 1 week: $150
Payments is due at the time of service.

I am partnered with The Lactation Network (TLN) to offer consults 100% covered by insurance with no out-of-pocket costs for you. To verify eligibility click here.
If you have an insurance that does not partner with TLN, I can provide you a Superbill to submit to your provider. I recommend checking with your insurance provider first as I may be considered “out of network” and they may not reimburse.

There’s no substitute for having an IBCLC assess your specific situation and help you know how to apply all the available information!
That said, I do have a few favorite websites with content I trust:
GlobalHealthMedia.org - Amazing videos for the visual learners (and avaialble in multiple languages!)
